Majumdar briefed us on 4 major points which are: • India has a dream to become a superpower by 2020 which will be fulfilled only when India spends more on Healthcare • Dr. Mujumdar discussed some facts regarding healthcare that are prevailing currently in India.
Example: 19 Crore people in India cannot afford facility of Healthcare. There are just 6 lakh doctors currently in India and there is a need to increase the number of doctors, nurses and paramedical professionals. • Country that spends on healthcare shows a great boon in its economy as this is the most growing sector in the world. • He concluded his speech by stating that quality education and Quality Health services is the need of the country and it can be achieved only with the improvement in technology and innovation of ideas.
Chief Guest: Mr. Shivinder Mohan Singh, Designation: Executive Vice Chairman, Fortis Healthcare Limited Following are the Mr. Shivinder Singh’s speech highlights: • Changes in this century in Healthcare. • Spoke on the Infrastructure gap that prevails in the Public and the Private sector. • In terms of automation accountability payers in healthcare -Newer models will come up. • Costs in Healthcare are going to go down.
India is going to be the cheapest healthcare country in the world. The future of healthcare is segregated into 2 parts 1. What is world going to do ? 2. What is that we need to do ? • To elaborate on the second part he said technology will play a significant role ,payer-provider model will be important and ownership of health will shift from provider to individuals. • He also said that access to healthcare is going to change, speed of availability of information is going to change and there will be 360 degree approach to Science. • The delivery mechanism of healthcare would be unique and customer based. • Patients will be put first at the health center.
Quality will also play an important role based on which decisions need to be taken. Certain standard of quality needs to be assured to every patient. • Standardization needs to come in healthcare in order to provide the authentic health care service. • He also spoke on medical education and the need to improve the quality of education and the measures that should be taken for the same. • To conclude he said that in future the healthcare will make ‘ The Process-The Hero’.

SUMMARY • Sir opened his speech by stating the latest judgment by the supreme court on transgender • Today there is a dire need of honest and good doctors. • He also stated that Nutrition is a huge problem in India along with poverty
If an action produces more pleasure than pain then it should be repeated again and again • The one liner for doctors today should be “ Make as many people happy as possible” • Walking in the search of knowledge is the best path to walk on.
Benthams philosophy states “ Make happiness widespread; reduce the sum total misery” • Surrogacy should not be practiced and should be substituted with adoption • Euthanasia is the constitutional right of everybody • If a person is not capable of taking a decision about his own life, a court should be allowed to take the decision
