Objectives • Harnessing, conserving and developing degraded natural resources. • Restoring the ecological balance • Prevention of soil run-off • Regeneration of natural vegetation • Rain water harvesting and recharging of the ground water table • Introduction of multi-cropping and diverse agro-based activities • Promoting sustainable livelihoods

  5. Salient Features • Cluster Approach • Dedicated Institutions (State, District, Project & Village Level) • Institution and Capacity Building • Scientific Planning (DPR) • Livelihood Orientation • Monitoring and Evaluation

Major Activities • Soil and Moisture conservation • Rainwater harvesting • Afforestation and Pasture Development • Encouraging natural regeneration • Promotion of agro-forestry and horticulture • Institution and Capacity Building • Awareness Generation • Encouraging people’s participation • Livelihood activities for assetless people • Production system and micro-enterprise

  7. Challenges • Strengthening of IEC • Entry point activities - a critical intervention • Convergence with other projects • Strengthening of monitoring and evaluation • Sustainability after project period

  8. Recommendations • MGNREGS on Watershed Platform A) Planning, Institution and Capacity Building, Administrative Cost and material cost from IWMP B) Labour component from MGNREGS • Planning at DPR stage - Convergence with - A) MGNREGS B) National Horticulture Mission C) BRGF etc.

  9. Recommendations • Planning and Implementation of IWMP and MGNREGS by same agency • Elaborate IEC activities • Focus on critical intervention • GIS Based near real time monitoring • Regular social audit and timely online reporting • Post project management for sustainability of projects
