“Missing Puzzle Pieces” Directions • Each of you will receive a card with part of an image on it. • Your job will be to find the other students in the class that have the other pieces to complete your “puzzle”. • Your group will also need to find the table that has the remaining puzzle piece. This will be your new seat for the day!
Once you’re in your group: • Spend a minute or two talking with one another about your current feelings about AVID and being back to school.
Ahhh…finally a little quiet time in the day • In the middle of your table, you will see a stack of cardstock and have been given some art supplies. It’s time to make a Name Tent!
“Name Tent” Directions 1) Fold your Comment Card (plain side facing up). 2) You will be working with the plain side of the card. 3) Directions will be given. Do the same to BOTH sides of the card. 4) 5 minutes to complete TEACHER NOTE: Switch to Elmo
Table Introduction • Use your Table Tent to introduce yourself to the other students at your table. • When it’s your turn to speak: • Speak loudly and clearly • Make eye contact • When it’s your turn to listen: • Make sure you’re focused and attentive • No side conversations

Homework Expectations • Just an FYI, there will be a little homework for this class. It will usually be making sure you have taken notes in your classes, grade checks, individual reflections, etc. • This class should not add to much more work to your homework load, but instead it should make your other classes more meaningful and make more sense.

Behavior Expectations • No technology powered on during school hours. • Dress code needs to be followed. • No eating or drinking anything in class other than water. This includes GUM. • Four students may go to the bathroom per block day. No bathroom trips on A days. • Tardies are not acceptable and are reason for referral to the office. • Backpacks and needed supplies are to be brought to school each day. • Behavioral issues: • Minor infractions = campus beautification • Major infractions = trip to the office • Parents will be contacted for all
