Plans and Decisions needed • Plan to installa MicroMegas prototype „MSW chamber“ in ATLAS for run-2 • Location either sector 9 or sector 13 • Side A or side C • Covers half of a CSC Large sector chamber (outer radius) • 4 active layers • Status: • Chamber construction in progress at CERN, will be completed within the next few weeks • Frontend electronics is on the critical path .... Plan to equip with VMM-2 frontend chip. Submitted for production end January, packaging and pin-out design currently under development • Backup plans: Use APV frontend electronics • Decisions to be taken: • Side A or side C, prefer as late as possible installation date • Exact location to prepare services • Service installation S. Services • OC box at the edge of the SW area, Cu-to-fiber converters • HDMI cables from frontend cards to OC box • OC box receives LV (4.5 ... 15V) and distributes power to frontend cards • Plan to use spare channels of CSC Wiener LV power supplies in rack Y5823X0 or Y2924X1  Cables needed to detector • HV supplies from additional CAEN mainframe in USA15, rack Y2716A1 (9 channels = cables) • Gas: to be defined, local gas system used in 2011/12 together with sMDT no longer available • Readout: VME crate + PC + ATCA crate in rack Y2616A1, 2 optical fibers to UX, optical fiber to ROS PC (TDAQ) • Integration into ATLAS TDAQ/ATLAS partition, plan is to be part of standard ATLAS data taking – preparations ongoing, incl. Stopless removal etc. • Integration to be scheduled for one of the late M-Weeks ... S. Zimmermann, MSW Plans
