Plant Cells

Hi Guys, I’m Celli the Caterpillar and I am going to teach you about these tiny organisms that are found in our bodies as well as in plants. Do you know what they are called?. If you said CELLS then you are one smart cookie! There are two kinds of cells that we are going to learn about.

  1. Hi Guys,I’m Celli the Caterpillar and I am going to teach you about these tiny organisms that are found in our bodies as well as in plants. Do you know what they are called?

  2. If you said CELLS then you are one smart cookie! There are two kinds of cells that we are going to learn about. Animal Cells Plant Cells

  3. Cells Alive Let’s play with the cells to see what all the parts do.

  4. Interactive Cells There are two types of cells: prokaryotic cells and eukaryotic cells. The simplest cells are prokaryotic cells like bacteria. Eukaryotic cells are more complex and are found in plants, animals and fungi.

  5. ANIMAL CELLS Watch Tim and Moby as they go over the different parts of an animal cell and what special jobs they hold. • Cell Membrane • Nucleus • DNA- Chromosomes • Cytoplasm • Organelles • Mitochonria • Lysosomes • Endoplasmic Reticulum • Vacuole • Ribosomes • Golgi Bodies

  6. Can you label all the parts of an ANIMAL CELL? HELP! I can only get out of here if you can name all the parts of this cell. HURRY! Vacuole

  7. THANK YOU!!! WHOOSH you guys are really smart. Vacuole

  8. Plant Cell Vocabulary These dawg on animals, love to chew on me! It is a good thing that our cells are not exactly the same. Can you figure out what are two differences in our cells? • Cell Wall • Cell Membrane • Organelles • Vacuole • Mitochondria • Cytoplasm • Endoplasmic Reticulum • Chromosomes • Nucleus • Chloroplasts • Golgi Bodies • Ribosome's

  9. Here is a Plant Cell, do you think that you can identify all of it’s parts? Hmmmm, let’s see…. Plant Cell

  10. PLANT CELLS Bodies Cytoplasm Cell Membrane Chromosomes

  11. Fill in the Venn Diagram below with the components of each cell. Remember, if they share the same parts, then you need to write them in the overlapping area. If they have parts that are unique to each individual cell, then you need to write them in the area that is only for that cell. Animal Cell Plant Cell

  12. Plant and animal cells All cells have these features in common: a cell membrane which controls what passes into and out of the cell cytoplasm where chemical processes (controlled by enzymes) take place, and a nucleus containing genetic material which controls the cell's behaviour. In addition, plant cells have the following unique features: a rigid cell wall made of cellulose vacuoles containing cell sap, and chloroplasts, containing chlorophyl which enables photosynthesis to take place. Make sure you can draw and label a generalised animal and a generalised plant cell, like this: Although it is useful to think about the general features of plant and animal cells, all cells in living organisms display specialised features that make them suited to carrying out their very specific jobs - for example, root cells, stem cells and leaf cells within a plant. A complex organism can be compared to a factory production line with different people performing different tasks. Cells within an organism display a similar division of labour to make the whole organism work properly and at a high level of efficiency.
