Print double-sided... it's easy! • Don't forget that you can print and copy double-sided! • Defaulting to double-sided printing and photocopying reduces your paper usage saves trees and saves the county money! • Also try 2-pages-to-1-page' printing on your recycled paper. Don’t know how? Ask IT or your DCHS sustainability liaison for help.

  4. Using Your Recycling Binsand Shredding Paper Recycling bins have been provided for all staff. Use your desk-side recycling bins for all mixed paper! If it's not confidential, don't shred it! Shredding confidential documents is extremely important but shredding documents that aren’t confidential costs the County money and costs the environment. TAKE NOTE: Shredding reduces the length of the paper fibers. This reduces it’s usabilty and lowers the quality of new materials that can be produced using these fibers.

  5. Keep recycling in the break room Tips for a Waste Free Lunch 1) Change the coffee culture! Take a mug with you when you buy coffee. 2) Use a durable water bottle 3) Keep a set of durable plates cups bowls and utensils at your desk and avoid disposables 4) Pack a cloth napkin instead of a paper napkin. 5) Pack lunch items in reusable containers. 6) Buy foods in larger containers and leave them at home for recycling. 8) Bring food scraps home to compost and collect coffee grounds for composting.
