Thomas Franson Excerpt from interview from Thomas Franson:How important is perimeter protection?"By protecting the terminals against intrusion, we protect the customers' goods. High, standard perimeter protection contributes to efficient security and the majority of the port facilities have a high standard when it comes to perimeter protection. There are 2.4-metre fences, which are also electrified and fitted with an alarm, making a total height of around 2.8 metres”.In organisational terms, how have you worked with security in recent times?"Now that the port is made up of a Port Authority and separate terminal companies, co-operation is crucial. Security issues are dealt with through a number of different fora and co-operation committees, such as the ISPS Committee. Representatives from all port facilities in the Gothenburg port area meet twice a year. We also have the Maritime Security Committee, made up of members from different public agencies, and the Port Security Forum, where the participants are persons with responsibility for security in the oil industry in Gothenburg. These are just some examples of efficient collaboration with public agencies and terminals. The network is a prerequisite for effective security work.
