  1. English 10 - 12/2/13 • Write on a subject of your choice. Five minutes to study for quiz #12. • What do you get when you cross a polar bear with a seal? • Wonk – slang for someone who studies excessively. “Know” spelled backwards. Goals –Notes on memorization techniques. Discuss reasons and purposes for memorizing and reciting poetry. Poem approvals. Homework – Begin memorizing first poem. Don’t forget to study for quiz #13 Friday.

English 10 - 12/3/13 • Proper words in proper places, make the definition of style. -Jonathon Swift • The old farmer tried fish farming once, but had to give it up when his combine kept getting stuck in the lake. • Autology – the scientific study of oneself. Goals – Practice evaluation. Work on reciting your poem. Practice reciting. Poem approval. Memorization technique Homework – Write your first poem from memory on your daily work paper. Recite it before going to bed.

  3. English 10 - 12/4/13 • There is nothing good or bad, but thinking makes it so. Shakespeare, Hamlet. • Why did the atoms cross the road? • Ululate – to howl or hoot. Goals –View video and practice with rubric. Recite or read your poem for a classmate. Evaluate recitations. Check for errors. Homework – Write your poem from memory on your daily work paper a second time. Recite it before going to bed.

Goals –Recite your poems with partners. In front of class? Evaluate poetry recitations. Check for accuracy. Poetry recitals for evaluation. Homework – Try to get your entire poem memorized by tomorrow.

Recite your poem for the class. Evaluate poetry recitations. Check for accuracy. Homework – Work on physical presence, voice and articulation and dramatic appropriateness.
