Example: Consumer Choice • Max U = 2FC • Subject to $500 = $5F + $10C • Find MUF/MUC = PF/PC • MUF/MUC = 2C/2F = C/F • C/F = $5/$10 = ½, or C = ½ F • Substitute into constraint • $500 = $5F + $10(½ F) = $10F • F = 50, C = ½ F = 25
