Use pictures on first slide to elicit adjectives from class or for better classes divide into groups and have them compete to see how many adj they can write as a group in 1 minute. • On chart pages have students repeat words. Use students as examples of tall, taller, tallest. Use ball to show far, farther, farthest, etc.

For the airplane game, either pre-make three paper airplanes or have students make them (be forewarned that airplane making/throwing may get out of hand) • Have three students come to front of the room. Give each an airplane. Write a word on the board like “good.” Then use the word to compare each airplane’s distance. The closest airplane is good, the next is better, and the furthest is the best. Change up the word for each set of students. Have the students compare the planes with the words. • I rarely got to this game because the rest of the lesson should suffice.
