  1. The Hillsborough Disaster 96 Dead – What went wrong? A Case Study

  2. Hillsborough Disaster • The Hillsborough football stadium disaster in April 1989 claimed 96 lives and a further 170 people were left injured. These people had gone to watch the FA cup semi final between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest at the Hillsborough Stadium in Sheffield

  3. Hillsborough Disaster • The disaster came about because a gate was opened to allow more spectators into a centre section of the stadium. This section was already crowded, and as fans attempted to enter the already full section, people were crushed in the entrance tunnels, on the steps and against the perimeter fencing

  4. Hillsborough Disaster • This was one of the worst disasters in British sporting history. The stadium staff, police and emergency services had to answer to a full government enquiry into the disaster, as it is the responsibility of these organisers to ensure that all visitors, staff and players are in a safe and secure environment

  5. Hillsborough Disaster • This was obviously not the case at Hillsborough on that particular day

  6. Hillsborough Disaster • The memorial at Hillsborough Ground
