Informatika je nauka o sistematskoj i racionalnoj obradi informacija kao nosilaca ljudskog znanja i komunikacija u tehničkom, ekonomskom i društvenom kontekstu, prvenstvenopomoću automatskih mašina (po francuskoj Akademiji nauka). Reč informatika (francuski informatique) nastala je od francuskih reči information i automatique.

  2. Računarstvo (engl.computer sciences) je teorijska nauka vezana za razvoj arhitekture računarskog hardvera i softvera.
