Government of RAK Project • Al Marjan Islands dredging, reclamation and rock revetment works utilized modern techniquies such as surface filling with coarse earth material, underwater sand pumping and deep sea sand quarry outsourcing instead of “hostile dredging”. • Prior to the natural processes of reclamation of AL Marjan Islands a physical model were done by Halcrow International (UK) to determine the water circulation, flushing, water quality, height and size of the armour and its persistence against the highest wave occurrence in 100 years. Visibility studies were conducted after the Island has been built and results obtained revealed 90% visibility and 2 m depth which prove without any doubt that the Hydraulic Models and the Physical Model done are correct and working
