  2. What is Diversity/Multicultural Education? • Education and instruction based on many aspects of different cultures and/or different ethnic backgrounds.

  3. Bilingual Education is beneficial in understanding different cultures. Makes an easy transition for children learning English as a second language. Bilingual Education should start in elementary school. Younger children are easier to learn a second language while learning to speak their native language. Bilingual Education

  4. How To Reduce Racism In The Classroom? • Treat it as any case dealing with harassment in school. • Talk to students involved and their parents. • Have students talk to counselor. • Have an open forum about race with teachers and students.

  5. How Can You Become Aware of Varying Differences Between Students • Visually • way of dress • sex, race, etc. • not always accurate • Emotionally • way student behave in school. • Students interest in class

  6. The Best Way to Know Is…ASK! • Ask students to talk about themselves or. • Have students to write a brief autobiography to give an idea who your students are. • In addition, talk to other about the students (teachers, parents, etc.)
