  5. Annual Meeting 2007 Mission The Northwest Minnesota Council of Collaboratives is a coalition of public and private agencies working together to improve the lives of children and families in northwest Minnesota.

  6. Kittson County established a collaborative in late 2001. • Kittson County has a child population of 1,431 youth under the age of 19 years. • 7 member agencies in the NW MN Council of Collaboratives who serve youth and families in Kittson County. • In 2005: • 12% of children were living in poverty • 44% were receiving free and reduced lunch KittsonCounty

  7. Mahnomen County established a collaborative in 1998. 6 member agencies in the NW MN Council of collaboratives who serve youth and families in Mahnomen County. Mahnomen County has a child population of 1,652 youth under the age of 19 years. In 2005: 23% of children were living in poverty 59% were receiving free and reduced lunch Mahnomen County

  8. Marshall County established a collaborative in 1996. 13 member agencies in the NW MN Council of collaboratives who serve youth and families in Marshall County. Marshall County has a child population of 2,837 youth under the age of 19 years. In 2005: 12% of children were living in poverty 45% were receiving free and reduced lunch Marshall County

  9. Norman County established a collaborative in mid 1999. 8 member agencies in the NW MN Council of collaboratives who serve youth and families in Norman County. Norman County has a child population of 2,080 youth under the age of 19 years. In 2005: 13% of children were living in poverty 47% were receiving free and reduced lunch Norman County

Polk County established a collaborative in 1996. 14 member agencies in the NW MN Council of collaboratives who serve youth and families in Polk County Polk County has a child population of 9,270 youth under the age of 19 years. In 2005: 14% of children were living in poverty 38% were receiving free and reduced lunch Polk County

Red Lake County established a collaborative in late 2000. 7 member agencies in the NW MN Council of collaboratives who serve youth and families in Red Lake County Red Lake County has a child population of 1,231 youth under the age of 19 years. In 2005: 12% of children were living in poverty 50% were receiving free and reduced lunch Red Lake County

  12. 2007 In Review • Involvement of six counties • 52 members including agencies and county collaboratives • Grants – currently three federal grants are operating and the Safe Schools 2 grant was recently completed • Reviewed approximately 600 grant opportunities. 21 were considered by the Governing Board and two have been identified to be written.

  13. 2007 In Review Formation of a sub-committee to addressTechnology and Tele-Mental Health Services Agenda includes preparing to write a federal grant to address this important issue. The Distance Learning and Telemarketing Grant will be due in the spring of 2008.

  14. 2007 In Review School Based Mental Health Services Grant Approval for the Northwestern Mental Health Center to complete this grant on behalf of the six counties. Support for our changing System of Care for Children’s Mental Health Services.

  15. 2007 In Review Two plans developed by an interagency group of staff from throughout the region. Intervention and Prevention plans developed that are important for the health and safety of our youth. Chemical Health Task Group
