SAFE GROUNDS, EQUIPMENT AND FACILITIES • Grounds and facilities should be designed and maintained to provide a safe playing environment.
SAFE GROUNDS • Likely dangers must be covered or removed eg: sprinkler heads and broken glass. • Any fixtures need to padded in training and play eg: goal and net posts. • Grounds should be well lit with light and positioned a safe area away from fences and spectators.
SAFE GROUNDS • Courts and fields should be: • Positioned away from roads, rivers, dams, cliffs, treess, fences, walls and buildings. • Designed north to south to prevent vision being impeded by the sun. • Constructed on even ground and not hard rough surfaces. • Positioned far enough away from other games and players to prevent clashes.
SAFE GROUNDS • When the surface is changed by weather additional dangers must be assessed for the risk of injury.
FACILITIES • Appropriate facilities need to be provided such as: hygenic change rooms, well stocked first aid room.
EQUIPMENT • Equipment is necessary to prevent injury • Gymnastics, mats to prevent injury from falls. • Equipment should be suited to the size and the ability of the player and in sound working order.
EQUIPMENT • Should be maintained regularly and undergo safety checks. • Large equipment should be anchored, stable and well padded. • Temporary structures should be properly erected and of sound construction.
ACTIVITIES • Complete the sheets pg: 36 and 37 Titan HSCPDHPE Book 2.
