Spanish II. The Verb IR + A + Infinitive/Place. Ir. The verb “ ir ” is IRREGULAR. It means “to go” in English. It is often followed by the word a : Voy al cine. You must put to memory the forms of “ ir ” because it is an irregular verb and it follows no pattern. IR (To go).

  2. Ir • The verb “ir” is IRREGULAR. It means “to go” in English. It is often followed by the word a: Voy al cine.

  3. You must put to memory the forms of “ir” because it is an irregular verb and it follows no pattern.

  4. IR (To go) Yovoy Tú vas Ud. Élva Ella Nosotrosvamos Vosotrosvais Uds. Ellos van Ellas

  5. Ir + a + INFINITIVE • We use a form of the verb ir + a + infinitive to tell what someone is going to do- in the immediate future.

  6. IR + a + INFINITIVE • Yovoy anadar. Y tú, ¿vas a jugarfútbol? • I’m going toswim. And you, are you going to play soccer? • Notice that only “ir” is conjugated. The second verb in a sentence is never conjugated. It remains in its infinitive form.

  7. IR + a + article+place • Los estudiantes van a la biblioteca. • The students go (are going) to the library.

  8. IR + a + article+place • Don’t forget the way to say “to the” • 4 ways: a + el (al)- (singular) a la - (singular) a los - (plural) a las - (plural)

  9. ¿Adónde van ustedes?: a + la(s) = a la(s) Nosotros vamos a la(s) tienda(s). ...a la biblioteca. ...a la ciudad. ...a la oficina. ...a la dentista. ...a la iglesia. ...a la librería. ...a la playa.

  10. ¿Adóndevas mañana?: a + el = al or a los= a los Yo voy al médico. ... al hotel. ... al dentista. ... al parque. ... al cine. ...al café. ...al hospital. ...al restaurante. ...al supermercado.
