  17. COA 1 (Frontal Assault) STATEMENT • MISSION : 1-22 CAB seizes highway junctions IVO OBJ Bravo NLT 170400Z MAR03 IOT deny enemy key terrain and reestablish pre-conflict borders and O/O conducts stability operations ICW GOAZ. • INTENT: The purpose of this operation is to seize terrain and simultaneously defeat enemy forces in order to set the conditions for GOAZ’s credibility and success. Key tasks include • Seize all major highway junctions IVO OBJ Bravo • Destroy forces from the 84th MID defending IVO OBJ Bravo • Secure highway junctions for follow-on stability operations. • ENDSTATE: Ahurastani forces have been defeated and are combat ineffective or have withdrawn from the area. The end-state for friendly forces is that they are postured for follow-on stability operations vic OBJ Bravo. • Decisive Operation: Mech 1, Mech 2, Armor 1, and Armor 2 companies pass through Phase Line Red and conduct a frontal assault against highway junctions objective Bravo IOT destroy the 84th MID and seize all highway junctions. Mech 2 is the main effort during the assault. Scout pltHHC conduct screen operation. • Shaping Operations: 4-42 FA conducts preparatory fires on OBJ Bravo IOT to fix enemy defenders and allow the 1-22 CAB assault freedom of maneuver all main weapon systems are in range. Scout PLTHHC screens OBJ Bravo to prevent enemy reinforcement. HHC/1-22 retains a platoon from Amor 1/1-22 in reserve. • 256/411 MP Co secure OBJ Bradley IOT ensure force protection and allow freedom of maneuver for 1-22 CAB for follow-on operations. 41st Fires Brigade conducts SEAD/ATACM in support of 1/4 HBCT and CAS missions. • 4-42 FA advances to Phase Line Black to provide depth of fires to maneuver units. Once the enemy is engaged, indirect fires and RW/FW CAS is used freely to quickly dominate and defeat AH forces. The primary goal of ISR assets is to find the enemy so they can be fixed through fires and destroyed by ground forces. • Sustaining the Operation: Division support areas will establish IVO of OBJ Bravo and have MSRs along the route of attack to continue to support forward forces. • Operational Risk is assumed by driving west towards OBJ Bravo from OBJ Bradley with the possibility of enemy reinforcements from the south. Friendly forces rely upon screening elements and ISR to provide timely warning of an enemy advance from this direction in order to maneuver against it.
