  1. Test & Analysis Project Statistical Toolkit Meeting Geant4 General Physics Test AIDA Workshop CERN 2thJuly 2003 Proton Bragg Peak Susanna Guatelli CERN, INFN Genova http://www.ge.infn.it/geant4/analysis/TandA

  2. Test & Analysisis a project to develop a statistical analysis system for usage in Geant4 testing • physics validation • regression testing • system testing What is the Test & Analysis project? • Main application areas • Provide tools to compare Geant4 simulation results with reference data • equivalent reference distributions (for instance, regression testing) • experimental measurements • data libraries from reference distribution sources • functions deriving from theoretical calculations or from fits

  3. Flow of the test and analysis process 3. First results, first evaluations 1. Study of the test to perform 2. Realisation of the test Next test Regression test 8. Evaluation of the results 4. Automatisation Of the test Benchmarks about G4 Physics models What is ok? What must be improved? 7. Results of Statistic comparison G4test / ref.data 6. Statistics toolkit 5. Physics distributions

  4. Physics Tests: present situation • Particle CSDA range • Particle Stopping Power • Transmission coefficient • Backscattering coefficient • Gamma Attenuation coefficient • Gamma processes’ cross section • Electromagnetic physics: • Hadronic physics • Proton Bragg Peak • Study of possible tests to perform • Angular distribution • Auger effect • Fluorescence Next step

  5. Test results The Test uses AIDA/Anaphe for the analysis • G4LowE EPDL • G4Standard • NIST reference data • xml file • (vector of points x, y, ex, ey ) • .hbk file • (histograms, ntuple) • Test output : • Now in “regime” condition the production is about 1360.xml files • Observation: now few tests are running • Future problem: management of the large amount of results Pb Stopping Power

  6. Essential features of Statistical Toolkit • Management of both .xml and .hbk files • Management of vector of points, histograms and ntuples • Statistical study of both discrete and continuous distributions • Management and statistical study of data affected or not by errors • Simple user interface Open problems... • The test should be inserted in Geant4 regression test as routinetest • Interface between Geant4 General • Physics Test and Statistical Toolkit is • missing • Automatisation of the system test +analysis • Management of Test50 and Statistical Toolkit results

  7. The performed tests were established with the help of: • Vladimir Ivanchenko (CERN) • Michelle Maire (CERN) • Maria Grazia Pia (INFN, Genova) Coordinators: • Susanna Guatelli (CERN, INFN, University of Genova) • Barbara Mascialino (INFN, Genova) Realisation of tests: • Pablo Cirrone (INFN Catania) • Susanna Guatelli • Alfonso Mantero (University of Genova, ESA) • Luciano Pandola (INFN, Gran Sasso) Automatisation of test in results’ production : • Sandra Parlati (INFN, Gran Sasso) Team of Geant4 Test • Statistical analysis: • Stefania Donadio (INFN, Genova) • Barbara Mascialino • Paolo Viarengo (IST, Genova)
