  4. Learnership Cash Grant • 2007 LCG applications - 610 learners • Black learners entering sector has increased • Increase from 45% in 2006/07 to 51% in 2007/08 • 2,986 learners were registered on Fasset learnerships, bringing total intake until the 31 March 2008 to 29,487

  5. Strategic Cash Grant • Maximum of 20% of the SDL for expenses • Due 31 March 2009 for training in the period 1 January to 31 December 2008 • Six areas available • Change in criteria (NQF level 1-8) –previously 5-8

Scarce Skills – Top Scarce Skills • Accountants, auditors and company secretaries; • Accounting clerks and bookkeepers; • Human resources and training professionals; • Information and organisation professionals; and • Business and systems analysts, and programmers. • Shortages of accounting skills exist at all levels – from bookkeeper to registered auditor.

Scarce Skills – Top Scarce Skills • Four broad educational fields or fields of study: • Accounting • Human Resources Management and Development • Information Technology • Economics and Statistics • The employment of people with disabilities in the Fasset sector is 0.8% - well below the Department of Labour target of 4%.
