  1. EU project Jazz Mix Culture – making music together An Ankara Jazz Society Project Primarily funded by the European Commission (EC) Background A jazz jam session is a musical act where musicians gather to play (or "jam") without extensive preparation or predefined arrangements. Pooling together jazz societies, universities and cultural institutes in Turkey, Germany, Italy, Bulgaria and France, the Jazz Mix Culture project includes workshops and concerts in several European countries. It is about understanding diversity, respecting different traditions and communicating through a universal language – music. Jazz Mix Culture blends talents, roots, traditions, patterns and instruments to create and perform good music – yet another way of bridging Turkey and EU. The Project Jazz Mix Culture project started on 17 August 2007 and will last 12 months. It has an estimated cost of EUR 132,940, of which 69 per cent is being funded by the EC. Location Workshops and concerts inTurkey (Ankara, Samsun and Zonguldak), Italy, Bulgaria, Germany and France What does the project involve? • Communication between major jazz and ethno-music societies in Europe and creation of a multilingual website • Workshops and concerts in Turkey and EU countries • A documentary, booklets and a photo exhibition describing the main moments of this endeavour • Editing and promoting a CD with good jazz music created under this multicultural venture For further information, please contact: Ankara Jazz Society - Ela ÖNEM, Project Coordinator, Tel.: (+ 90 312) 446 27 33 Delegation of the European Commission to Turkey – Seda ERDEN, Sector Manager Culture and Audiovisual Policy, Tel.:(+ 90 312) 459 87 00 EUROPEAN UNIONDELEGATION OF THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION TO TURKEY
