  1. Cub Scouts Responsibilities of THE Primary President

  2. “Scouting contributes to a boy’s preparation to hold the priesthood of God. Scout leaders have a sacred responsibility. They help boys learn Scouting principles that also help them live the gospel. We thank each leader as they foster faith in Christ and prepare boys to make temple covenants and become a missionary, husband, and father.” —Rosemary M. Wixom, Primary general president

  3. Purpose of Scouting in Primary Through Coordination of the Faith in God program: • Prepares boys to keep baptismal covenants • Provide service to his family • Prepare to receive the priesthood • Provide leadership opportunity • Develop habits and attitudes of good citizenship

  4. Lord Baden-Powell “A fisherman does not bait his hook with food he likes. He uses food the fish likes. So with boys.”

  5. Primary Presidency Member should: • Register with BSA and become trained • Encourage leaders to attend scout training • Visit scout meetings and activities • Review each boy’s progress on a regular basis • Help plan day camps and ensure each boy’s participation

  6. The Four Ts – Elder Vaughn J. Featherstone • Testimony • Trained Not only with church but with BSA district and council • Time Need to have time to be a leader of boys • Tenure Be willing to stay with scouting

  7. Parental Responsibilities: • Parent involvement – key element to success of program • Provide logistical support • Get the family involved with Cub Scouting

  8. Keys for Successful Ward Cub Scout Program • Call a Complete Staff of Adult Cub Scout Leaders. • Register Cub Scout Adult Leaders and Cub Scout Boys Immediately. • Get your Adult Cub Scout Leaders Trained Immediately. • Leaders Wear the Uniform and Set the Example; Boys Wear Uniform. • Conduct ‘Theme’ Den Meetings and Pack Meetings.

Keys for Successful Ward Cub Scout Program • Successful Den Meetings – Rules for Den Leaders • Help the Cub Scouts Have Fun in Developing Upright Character, Self Confidence, Citizenship, and Growth in the Gospel through Practical Application. • Primary Presidency Counselor, Cubmaster, and Committee Chair Meetings.
