  2. St. Bede Cub Scouts Pack 280 September 2012 Dear Parents and boys interested in cub scouting, we welcome you to join us on Sunday, September 23, 2012, at 6:00 in St. Bede’s cafeteria to learn more about Cub Scouting. Why Cub Scouting? Cub Scouting is a well rounded program positively affecting every area of a boy’s life. Cub scouting encourages boys to achieve a deeper appreciation of others, including peers, parents and other adults. Cub Scouting provides boys with a sense that they are important as individuals and as a community member. It promotes activities that lead to personal responsibility and high self-esteem. How does Cub Scouting work? Your son will be a member of a den. Each den consists of four to eight boys that are in the same grade. First grade – Tiger Den; Second grade – Wolf Den; Third grade – Bear Den; Fourth and Fifth grades – Webelos Den. Each den is run by a leader (parent volunteer) who is in charge of the activities. The four dens are part of a Pack. All of our dens meet in their small groups the first and third Wednesday of the month from 7:00 to 8:00 at St. Bede’s cafeteria. We have one pack meeting a month, which is usually the last Sunday of that month, from 6:00 to 7:30 at St. Bede’s cafeteria. Attending den meetings is not only fun, but important too. That is where your son does cool activities to achieve their rank advancement and learn new skills. The monthly pack meetings are fun-filled events that include special ceremonies in recognition of what your son is earning. Cub scouting is a program that parents and sons can do together. We are a family centered program and welcome families at our activities. Outings and special events this year will include: a hayride, Halloween and Christmas parties, an overnight trip to the Frankline Institute, Pinewood Derby races, Trenton Thunder baseball game, family camping trips, service projects, and lots more! If cub scouting sounds good to you…join us on September 23, 2011. If you can’t make the meeting, you can call me at 215.355.1008 Joe Cawley Cubmaster – Pack 280 DOW RESTRICTED
