  7. Our Story • The directive was given: BYOT by Fall • We talked to teachers • Had a focus group of teachers sit down and discuss the opportunities of BYOT • Controlled Pilot • Wireless Hot Spots in HS • Cell Phones • 120 Teachers on staff, 40 volunteered

  8. Our Story • In-Service Menu Day • Gary Stager: “PD doesn’t work when it’s outside of the context of the practice” • Dedicated one day for “BYOT In-Service” • Modeled: paperless, outside devices

Our Story • Formed the Shared Vision for BYOT: • Not a One-to-One initiative • Not forced on every teacher for every class…teachers keep all classroom management options • Opportunity to provide a more authentic learning environment • Gary Stager: “Making simple things easy to do makes complex things possible.” • New way to approach the integration of technology in the classroom.

  13. Our Story • BYOT Live! (Second Semester) • Turned on the wireless in the HS on January 15, 2012 • Available IP range of 255 devices filled in 90 minutes. (1800 students, 200 staff) • IP range is now 65,000 addresses • Collecting data and observing use in the classroom (focus groups, surveys)
