Application Timeline • September 30, 2013 – Prequalification opens • October 14, 2013 – Full Application opens • November 15, 2013 - Application closes • December 2013 – January 2014 - Individual application review • February – March 2014 - Review panels • April 2014 - Funding recommendations to Local Operating Boards • May 2014 – Funding recommendations to Board of Directors September 3, 2013

  14. Prequalification • Organizations are required to submit prequalification in order to apply by October 11, 2013. • Eligibility criteria includes: • IRS certified 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization. • Meet all Patriot Act requirements. • Minimum 2-year track record of providing program or service(s) the region. • Provide program(s) or services without regard to age, gender, race, sexual orientation, national origin, religion or presence of a disability. • Comply United Way contractual obligations including but not limited to: outcome and client demographic reporting, submission of annual audit and management letter, maintain an up-to-date listing with the 2-1-1 system, etc. September 3, 2013

Prequalification • Eligibility criteria continued: • Registration with applicable State Bureau(s) of Charitable Organizations where contributions are solicited. • Audited Financial Statements prepared on a U.S. GAAP basis. • Unqualified audit opinion • Audit is free from “not a going concern” opinion. • A-133 audit free of findings and/or questioned costs. If not,a remediation letter from external auditors outlining corrective action(s) taken must be submitted. • Management letter, SAS 115 letter and/or A-133 audit (if applicable) free from significant deficiencies and/or material weaknesses and internal controls.  If not, there must be a remediation letter from external auditors outlining corrective action(s) taken. Application Process • Application will be available via our extranet from October 14 – November 15, 2013 (link will appear on our website on 10/14) • Org level info (staff and board leadershipand volunteerism and partnerships) • Prescreen Questions (areas of work and locations) • Required Strategy Components • Preferred Strategy Components • Results for prescribed indicators (FY13 actuals and projections for FY14 & FY15) • Budget (FY13 actual and projections for FY14 & FY15) • Document Upload: Most recent audited financial statements & Management Letter (not older than 18 months), IRS Designation Letter, and IRS Form 990 September 3, 2013

  17. Application Review • Applications will be scored by organization regardless of the number of strategies submitted. • Applications will be reviewed by at least: one appropriate Content Reviewer, two Community Investment Reviewers and one staff person. All reviewers will be vetted for conflicts of interest. • Each application will be scored against a rubric with the following weights: Org Capacity - 35%, Alignment - 25%, Results – 30% and Budget – 10% • After individual application scoring is complete, Review Panels will convene to discuss and agree upon the final scores of each application. Regional panels will be held for organizations that apply in multiple UWGPSNJ localities. September 3, 2013

Funding Recommendations & Approval • Funding recommendations will be submitted to Local Operating Board(s) for approval in April 2014. • Board Approval of Funding Recommendations in May 2014 • Funding decisions will be communicated to applicants in May 2014 • Three-Year funding cycle begins July 1, 2014 • Contract and First Quarterly Payment to Agencies - September 2014 • Total amount available for investment is contingent upon performance of the annual UW campaign: • Minimum grant $5K (NJ) and $20K (PA) per year • Maximum grant $200K per state with a grand total not to exceed $400K per organization, per year September 3, 2013
