The ITN & IDP • ITN = Initial Training Network • IDP = Innovative Doctoral Programme • PACMAN is the first IDP at CERN → mono-site project • In FP7, CERN has: • coordinated 10 ITNs • been beneficiary on 8 ITNs • The Research Executive Agency, Brussels • contract negotiation • the Project Officer → contacts by CERN • reports at 12 months (progress), 24 months (periodic), 48 months (final) • Mid-Term Review around month 20-22

The aim of the IDP • Trainingof Early Stage Researchers specifically for PhD • Joint training programme with trainingthrough research • Structured trainingmodules • Funding contribution for: • allowances for recruited researchers • networkingand training related costs • short training events • Project duration 4 years

  4. Some Agreements • Grant Agreement • between EC and hosting organization (beneficiary) • core agreement + accession • Annex I – Description of Work • Annex II – General Conditions • Annex III – Specific Conditions (costs & definitions) • given to the researchers on paper  • ‘The agreement’ • between hosting organization and researcher

  5. Other Agreements • Declaration on the Conformity → Research Participant Portal • within 20 days • CERN’s responsibility • Consortium Agreement → more later from Karen Ernst • provisions for any disputes • IPR arrangements if not already in Annex I • must not contradict contractual conditions
