  2. TEIN2 – Asia Pacific R&E network Operational since Jan 2006 Connecting the NRENs in: Australia China Indonesia Japan Korea Malaysia Philippines Singapore Thailand Vietnam Coordinated by DANTE Co-funded by the European Commission

  3. TEIN3 Tendered Q2 – Q3 2008 6 circuits Contracted with 5 providers 10 circuits provided by TEIN3 partners Migration to TEIN3 underway, due to complete this month

  4. Network Highlights • New Singapore PoP at Global Switch • New Juniper M120 routers in Singapore and Hong Kong • Singapore – EU upgraded to 2.5 Gbps • Singapore – HK upgraded to 2.5 Gbps, • Beijing – EU 2.5 Gbps link being re-tendered by CERNET • TransPAC2 link to US via Tokyo maintained

  5. TEIN3 Partner Access Capacities • Indonesia – 45 155 Mbps • Laos – 10 Mbps (via ThaiREN, being provided) • Malaysia - 45 155 Mbps • Philippines – 10 Mbps (via MAFFIN) • Thailand - 155 Mbps (via NICT Singapore/Bangkok link) • Vietnam - 45 155 Mbps

  6. TEIN3 Partner Access Capacities • Australia – 622Mbps 933 Mbps • Hong Kong - 18 Mbps • Japan – NII 2 x 622Mbps, NICT 1Gbs, • Korea - 622 2.5 Gbps • Singapore - 45 Mbps + • China – 2.5 Gbps to EU, 1Gbps to HK • Pakistan – 155 Mbps (via NSF/PERN link)

  7. TEIN3 South Asia Extension Tendering started for: Bangla Desh Bhutan India Nepal Pakistan Sri Lanka

  8. Central Asia Research and Education Network (CAREN) • New EC funded regional R&E project for Central Asia • Beneficiary countries: • Duration 1 Jan 2009 – 31 Dec 2011 • Managing Partner: DANTE • EC AIDCO funding 5M Euro, 80% of project costs, remainder from partners • Prime objective: replace low capacity Silk satellite-based R&E network with terrestrial fibre, target by end 2009
