  3. Save Water • Some hatcheries have a limited water supply • Reuse allows hatchery to maximize fish production on a limited water supply

  4. Manipulate Water Quality • Allows manipulation of certain water quality parameters such as temperature so you have more control over your fish production • Heat water to accelerate development and growth • Cool water to slow down development and growth

  5. Manipulate Water Quantity for Waste Treatment • Reduced water usage make it easier to treat waste effluent

  6. Save Energy • If water is being pumped, less water used equals less energy used

  7. Reduce Footprint/Save Space • Some hatcheries are space limited. Reuse can concentrate fish production in a smaller area and reduce space constraints. • May also allow for consolidating hatchery processes
