APRIDEC MEDICAL OUTREACH PROGRAMME • INTRODUCTION • The December 2011 outreach programme took the group to the following areas of the Upper East Region. • BONGO DISTRICT • BAWKU WEST • TALENSI DISTRICT • NABDAM DISTRICT • NAVRONGO CENTRAL • BOLGATANGA MUNICIPAL The group arrived on the 21st of December and exited on the 1st of January 2012. The results as captured below at the various health facilities show how the challenges are enormous and the call to all and sundry to help in which ever way to enable the group provide healthcare services to the deprived people of the Northern Regions.

  7. Health education • Breast Cancer Awareness Creation – The Team on their various health centres’ visit, conducted presentations on Breast Cancer detection and management. Participants in the various Health Institutions visited, were educated on • How to detect the early signs of breast cancer. • How to perform self breast cancer examination. Both men and women were screened. • Nutrition – The people also benefited from an educational talk on: • Adopting proper eating habits. • Appropriate diet for people with diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol etc. • How to manage diabetes, cholesterol, hypertension through proper eating habits.
