  5. Character Resources The Pyrenees have (not in use) iron mines at several locations in Andorra. Coal is found on the Spanish slopes, the French side has beds of lignite. The open pit of Trimoun, is a source of talc. On average the range enjoys 300 days and 2,000 hours of sun shine a year.

  6. Fact File The Pyrenees are older than the Alps. Between 100 and 150 million years ago, the bay of Biscay became larger pushing Spain into France. That but pressure on the Earths crust therefore creating the Pyrenees.
