But First… What are the two types of characterization that we spoke about Tuesday? Direct the author explicitly tells the reader about the character. 2. Indirect the author shows something about the character through what the character Says, Thinks, their Effect on others, their Actions, and their Looks. STEAL!!
But First… What makes up the setting? Setting is the time and place of the story. It may provide the reader with key background information, set the tone, or even distract the reader.
Point of View The perspective from which the story is told. Two main points of view in literature: First Person Halo Gameplay When a character narrates the story from their perspective. Normally the character will use I-me-my-mine in his or her speech. The advantage of this point of view is that you get to hear the thoughts of the narrator and see the world depicted in the story through his or her eyes. In this perspective the reader is limited to the knowledge and self awareness of the character so it is the reader’s job to go beyond what the narrator says.
Point of View Third Person Metal Gear Solid Third Person Objective – The narrator is a bystander looking in. They have no knowledge of character thought or emotion besides what the characters display themselves. Third Person Omniscient – The narrator has knowledge of everything going on and all characters’ thoughts and emotions. Third Person Omniscient Limited – The narrator has knowledge of only one characters thoughts and emotions. All third person narrators will use pronouns such as he / she / it / names
