  27. SWOT Analysis • Strengths • Students feel that participating in PEER has been a positive experience. • Most students are happy with their faculty mentoring—particularly regarding academic experiences. • More than 75% of students agree that participation in PEER will provide for competitive advantage for future employment. • Students are happy with PEER online resources. • Weaknesses • The percentage of students happy with their industry interactions has increased since 2003, but students are still not satisfied with the amount of their industry interaction. • Only 15% of students have been offered help with writing grants. • Collaborative opportunities within PEER are up from last year (42% in 2005, 60% in 2006), but are still not available to the extent desired.

  28. SWOT Analysis • Opportunities • A majority of students felt that they would like to pursue collaborations with students at other PEER institutions. • Students use the PEER website regularly, so this is likely to be an effective place for disseminating research results. • A majority of the students know their SLC representative (74%) and are aware of SLC activities (64%), but 17% of students were not satisfied with the amount of information they received from their SLC rep. • Threats • Lack of industry collaboration may hurt students who wish to work in industry after finishing their education.
