  1. The NHAI’s Undertakings & Ongoing Projects Redefines Roads & Commuter’s Journey The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), through the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), launched and implemented several projects to improve roadways and enhance highway commuters’ experience. From providing basic amenities to modernising road infrastructure, the NHAI’s projects are aligned with many of the government’s initiatives such as Digital India, modernising roads, Beti PadaoBeti Bachao (women empowerment), and employment schemes. The following are a few of the NHAI’s ongoing projects: ●Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) ●Advanced Emergency Traffic Incident Management ●Wayside Amenities ●Sukhad Yatra The NHAI’s Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) enables users to pay Toll fee digitally without having to halt at the gate. The autonomous highways agency already made ETC operational at 383 Toll booths across India and is planning to convert all the Tolling lanes into ETC-powered lanes. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has mulled Advanced Emergency Traffic Management System (ATMS) to ease the flow of traffic and improve safety on national highways. ATMS will improve, ease, and organise the flux of traffic by gathering real-time data and transferring it to the command centre for integration and processing. To improve the commuter’s journey on highways the MoRTH, with the help of the NHAI, introduced the Wayside Amenities (WSAs) project to provide basic, intermediate and advanced amenities. These amenities include branded restaurants, restrooms, dhabas, ATMs, kiosks for the eatery, parking lots, helipads and a ton more. The NHAI launched a mobile utility application with the assistance of ComVision (India) Pvt. Ltd. The application’s built-in features like Nearby Toll Plaza(s), Toll Plaza Enroute, Buy

  2. FASTag, Know Your Highway, Near By, Report An Issue, Report Summary, and Rate Us guides commuters along their destination on highways. Within the first week of its launch, Sukhad Yatra received good responses from users. So far, the application has registered 40,000 user downloads an application’s average user rating has reached 3.9 from 3.5 (on a scale of 5). International Women’s Day on March 8th 2018 NHAI has launched several all-female teams for toll operations in more than 300 Toll plazas across the country. The project has increased the role of women in the highways sector. Moreover, this project will not only increase female representation in the workforce but also make their presence a boon for other female commuters on highways. With all these projects, the NHAI is taking India to the world by modernising highway infrastructure and easing the highway commuter’s journey. #TollPlaza #FASTag # SukhadYatra
