We11 Of Hope. Senior Class 2011. 1.1 billion people in the world don’t have access to safe drinking water. Goal. For the Class of 2011 to raise enough money to establish a well in an at-risk community to sustain life and give hope for a better future.

  2. 1.1 billion people in the world don’t have access to safe drinking water.

  3. Goal For the Class of 2011 to raise enough money to establish a well in an at-risk community to sustain life and give hope for a better future.

  4. Each day 4,200 children die from diarrhea diseases caused by their water.

  5. BENEFITS • Reduces child mortality by half SAVES LIVES!!! • Cuts transfer of malaria • Improves opportunity for education • Reduces extreme poverty • Results in improvements in livestock and crops • Increases economic opportunities • Reduces the number of water-related diseases

  6. 2.2 million people die every year from water-related diseases.

  7. What $10,000 will buy • A deep water well, fitted with a hand pump • This well can provide up to 2,800 gallons of safe, life-sustaining water every day. • Enough water to sustain 300 people now and for many years to come • A better life for future generations • Transformation of an entire community • Hope for a better future

  8. An American taking a five-minute shower uses more water than a typical person in a developing country slum uses in a whole day.

  9. WATER USAGE -50 gallons of water to wash a car. -2 gallons of water to brush your teeth -A 10 minute shower takes 60 gallons -3 gallons to flush a toilet -12 gallons to run a dishwasher

  10. The average person uses between 100 and 175 gallons everyday. In Africa 17 gallons of water is used on average per person.

  11. Tens of millions of children cannot go to school because they have to fetch water everyday.

  13. If each of the 360 seniors in the Class of 2011 were to raise _____ dollars, that would be a total of ______ dollars which would achieve our goal of $10,000.

  14. ANSWER • If each of the 360 seniors in the Class of 2011 were to raise $27.78, that would be a total of ten thousand dollars which would achieve our goal of $10,000.

  16. ANSWER • If each of the approximately 1,900 students, faculty, staff, administrators, and workers in the PurnellSwett family were to contribute $5.27, that would be a total of 10,013 dollars which would achieve our goal of $10,000.

  17. The clock is ticking… Every 21 seconds, a child dies of water-related disease.

WHAT NOW??? • Talk to friends, family, community and church members to make them aware of this world crisis and the goal of the Class of 2011 • Solicit support for the We11 of Hope in the way of pledges and donations.
