  1. May 19, 2013 ACTS 2: 1- 41

  2. pente 50 (50 days after Passover) Feast of the Harvest (Feast of Weeks) the giving of the Law at Sinai

  3. But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have saidto you. John 14:26

  4. But when the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will bear witness about me. And you also will bear witness, because you have been with me from the beginning. John 15: 26-27

  5. And when the Holy Spirit comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment: concerning sin, because they do not believe in me; John 16: 8-9

  6. When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, … John 16:13

  7. The Holy Spirit will glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you. All that the Father has is mine; therefore I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you. John 16: 14-15

  8. When the Holy Spirit comes, He will … • teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that Jesus has said. • will bear witness about Jesus. You also will bear witness. • will convict the world concerning sin. • will guide you into all the truth. (The Spirit of Truth) • will glorify Jesus.

  9. (Jesus told the disciples to) wait for the promise of the Father, which, he said, “you heard from me; for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” “you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Acts 1: 4,5,8

  10. Act 2:16 But this is what was uttered through the prophet Joel: 17"'And in the last days it shall be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams; (18) even on my male servants and female servants in those days I will pour out my Spirit, and they shall prophesy.

  11. 19And I will show wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below, blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke; 20 the sun shall be turned to darkness and the moon to blood, before the day of the Lord comes, the great and magnificent day. 21 And it shall come to pass that everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.'

  12. 16 But this is what was uttered through the prophet Joel: (Joel 2: 28-32) 17 "'And in the last days it shall be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh, … ... … 21 And … everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.'

  13. 21And it shall come to pass that everyone who calls upon the name oftheLordshall be saved.

  14. 22Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a man attested to you by God with mighty works and wonders and signs that God did through him in your midst, as you yourselves know— 23this Jesus, delivered up according to the definite plan and foreknowledge of God, you crucified and killed by the hands of lawless men. 24God raised him up, loosing the pangs of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him.

  15. The C.O.R.E. of the Gospel Crucifixionyou crucified and killed (Jesus) by the hands of lawless men. Ordained by God according to the definite plan and foreknowledge of God Resurrection God raised him up Eyewitnesses / Evidenceas you yourselves know; we are all witnesses

  16. 23this Jesus, delivered up according to the definite plan and foreknowledge of God, you crucified and killed by the hands of lawless men. 24God raised him up, loosing the pangs of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him.

  17. 25 For David says concerning him: (Psalm 16:8-11) "'I saw the Lord always before me, for he is at my right hand that I may not be shaken; 26therefore my heart was glad, and my tongue rejoiced; my flesh also will dwell in hope. 27For you will not abandon my soul to Hades, or let your Holy One see corruption. 28You have made known to me the paths of life; you will make me full of gladness with your presence.'

  18. 29 Brothers, I may say to you with confidence about the patriarch David that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day. 30Being therefore a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that he would set one of his descendants on his throne,

  19. 31 he foresaw and spoke about the resurrection of the Christ (the Messiah), that he was not abandoned to Hades, nor did his flesh see corruption. 32This Jesus God raised up, and of that we all are witnesses.

  20. 33 Being therefore exalted at the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he (Jesus)has poured outthis that you yourselves are seeing and hearing.

  21. 34 For David did not ascend into the heavens, but he himself says, (Psalm 110:1) "The Lord said to myLord, ‘Sit at my right hand, 35until I make your enemies your footstool."'

  22. 36Let all the house of Israel therefore know for certain that God has made him bothLordandChrist, thisJesuswhom you crucified.

  23. 37Now when they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, "Brothers, what shall we do?"

  24. 38 And Peter said to them, "Repent! andbe baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

  25. 16-20the Holy Spirit has been poured out 21“everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” 22-24JESUS: life, crucifixion, & resurrection (the CORE of the Gospel) 25-32proof that Jesus is the Messiah (Christ) 33-35 proof that Jesus is Lord (divine, God)

  26. 33 Being therefore exalted at the right hand of God, … 64 Jesus said, … "from now on you will see the Son of Man seated at the right hand of Power and coming on the clouds of heaven.“ 65 Then the high priest tore his robes and said, "He has uttered blasphemy. … 66 What is your judgment?" They answered, "He deserves death."(Matthew 26:64-66)

  27. 33 Being therefore exalted at the right hand of God,and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he (Jesus)has poured out this that you yourselves are seeing and hearing. 17 'And in the last days it shall be, God declares, thatIwill pour out my Spirit on all flesh,

  28. 16-20the Holy Spirit has been poured out 21“everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” 22-24JESUS: life, crucifixion, & resurrection (the CORE of the Gospel) 25-32proof that Jesus is the Messiah (Christ) 33-35 proof that Jesus is Lord (divine, God)

  29. 16-20the Holy Spirit has been poured out 21“everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” 22-24JESUS: life, crucifixion, & resurrection (the CORE of the Gospel) 25-32proof that Jesus is the Messiah (Christ) 33-35 proof that Jesus is Lord (divine, God) 36Jesus(whom you crucified!) isLord and Christ (Messiah)

  30. 39 For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself." 40And with many other words he bore witness and continued to exhort them, saying, "Save yourselves from this crooked generation."

  31. 41So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls. 42 And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. … …

  32. The Holy Spirit is working here today! • He is convicting people of sin! • He is convincing people of the truth about Jesus as He bears witness of who Jesus is! • He is giving power to believers to be His witnesses! • He is bringing glory to Jesus!
