  2. You will now be organized into groups of 4. You will read the article as a group and then prepare a presentation of the article to the class, which you will share tomorrow. 1) Texts— “10 Rules for Going to College When Nobody Really Expected You To” 2) “Not Going to College is a Viable Option” 3) “Why Go to College?” 4) “The 10 Most Common Excuses for Not Going to College and Why They’re All Wrong” 5) Texts— “10 Rules for Going to College When Nobody Really Expected You To” 6) “Not Going to College is a Viable Option” 7) “Why Go to College?” 8) “The 10 Most Common Excuses for Not Going to College and Why They’re All Wrong”

To make the best use of time as you build your report, provide the following instructions for developing the report: 1) Read the article aloud in your group, and as one person reads, everyone else in the group should mark places that seem important in the document. 2) After the first reading, reach a shared opinion of what the article has to say about starting work or going to college. What is the author’s opinion about the topic? Prepare a brief summary of the writer’s argument. 3) Identify 5 of the most important pieces of information the writer provides with explanations why each quote is important to the overall meaning of the text. • Your final report to the class should contain the following 3 items (Note: everyone in the group must speak): • A brief summary of the document’s argument • 5 Important quotes or information the writer provides with an explanation. • Why they think the document as a whole is important to everyone in the class.
