  2. Genre Knowledge • Profile: Stephen awakens to Serenitiy crying as he rolled at of bed; looking at the clock he saw that it was 3:27 am, another long night and hardly any sleep. • Report: Some people think that single parent households have a negative effect on the children that live in them. Commentators think because of the number of single parenting families there are more problems in the world. • Position: In every Childs life there are going to be some disappointment whether that child is being raised by a two parent household or single parent household. I strongly agree that there are advantages and disadvantages to raising a child alone. at least they get the chance to raise a child. • Introductions: taking the child to the doctor. • Proposal: I propose that with the divorce, and single parenting numbers being so high a couple should go through pre martial counseling before they start a family. That way a couple will have a glimpse at how tough marriage and having children.

  3. Rhetorical Knowledge • Single parents create stronger bonds with their children because they spend quality time with each other. In addition that a child is raised by the extended family and community so they are more involved in the community and in the family. • Commentators think because of the number of single parenting families there are more problems in the world. They argue that with being raised in a single parent household that these children will also raise children by themselves.

  4. Public Writing • I choice to write about single parenting and the effects it has on the children that live in single parent households. • A single parent is a parent who takes care of one or more of their children without the help of another parent. Single parenting may happen for different reasons like divorce, separation, the death of spouse, abandonment, unfit parent and others reasons. This parent must take full responsibility for the children that both of the parents were taking care of that child and also providing for the children.

  5. Writing from sources • From my report a quote: “A single-mother home is much more common than a single-father home however the amount of single fathers has grown by 60% in the last ten years alone.” Kristin Ketteringham. • Works Cited • "BBC NEWS | UK | One-parent families on the rise." BBC NEWS | News Front Page. 11 Apr. 2007. 03 Feb. 2009 <http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/6542031.stm>.

  6. Design • Each piece of writing we have done as a class I have added a graphic representation. I used graphs, pictures and charts to enhance each of the papers.
