  17. Supervision • Direct supervision, indirect supervision, and oversight • Faculty and trainees may supervise trainees • Progressive responsibility • Interns are required to have direct or indirect supervision at all times; day after “oversight” is not permitted

Duty Hours • 80 hours per week, including all moonlighting • One day off in seven (including home call) • Maximum duty period length: PGY1=16; 24 + 4 for others • Minimum time off between scheduled duty periods • Night float no more than six consecutive nights • In-house call no more than every third night • At-home call must not preclude rest; counts toward 80 hour per week maximum, but not in the shift break • Reporting accurately is part of UCSF professionalism • .
