  6. StoreGrid for India • Having seen good success in the US/Canada/Europe markets, we are focusing on the India opportunity • StoreGrid Professional Edition is ‘ready for Indian SMBs’ – between 3 – 500 installations, typically • StoreGrid supports the ‘data backup requirements’ of the Indian SMB: files, Outlook, SQL, Exchange, etc

  7. Typical Deployments a) Clients  Local Backup Server Usually: Win XP Win Server 2000/2003 Advanced Users: Linux FreeBSD Server Only Mode Client Only Mode Client Only Mode Client Only Mode Client Only Mode Window Server 2003 running Exchange / SQL Windows Vista Mac OSX Windows XP StoreGrid installations can run on :Windows 2000 Server, 2003 Server, Small Business Server, Linux, FreeBSD, Windows 2000, XP, Vista & Mac OS X

  8. Typical Deployments • Clients  Local Backup Server • Step 1:Install StoreGrid on the backup server – in ‘Server Only’ Mode (you will be prompted during installation) • Step 2:Install StoreGrid on the client machines – in ‘Client Only’ Mode (you will be prompted during installation) • Step 3: Apply License Key to Server and to each client Important Note: There are 4 kinds of keys: • Desktop OS (Win 2000, ME, XP, Vista, Mac OS X) • Server OS (Win 2000/2003/2008 Server, Linux, FreeBSD) • Server OS with Advanced SQL+Exchange plugin • Replication Server • Step 4:If server is in the same subnet as clients, the clients will automatically discover the server. Otherwise, the backup server needs to be manually added (by the client)

  9. Typical Deployments a) Clients  Local Backup Server An Important Question: Where will the Backup Server Store the Backup Data? Server Only Mode Client Only Mode Client Only Mode Client Only Mode Client Only Mode Window Server 2003 running Exchange / SQL Windows Vista Mac OSX Windows XP StoreGrid installations can run on :Windows 2000 Server, 2003 Server, Small Business Server, Linux, FreeBSD, Windows 2000, XP, Vista & Mac OS X

  10. Typical Deployments a) Clients  Local Backup Server • StoreGrid supports all common Storage Options: • Hard Disk • USB Disk • NAS / SAN / other networked storage Server Only Mode Client Only Mode Client Only Mode Client Only Mode Client Only Mode Window Server 2003 running Exchange / SQL Windows Vista Mac OSX Windows XP StoreGrid installations can run on :Windows 2000 Server, 2003 Server, Small Business Server, Linux, FreeBSD, Windows 2000, XP, Vista & Mac OS X

  11. Typical Deployments Online b) Clients  Local Backup Server • Server accessible by unique IP address: • Hosted Server in a datacenter • Managed Server at a co-lo • Server at Service Provider Site • Server at some other branch Server Only Mode INTERNET Client Only Mode Client Only Mode Client Only Mode Client Only Mode

  12. Typical Deployments b) Clients  Online Backup Server • Step 1:Install StoreGrid on the backup server – in ‘Server Only’ Mode (you will be prompted during installation) • Step 2:Install StoreGrid on the client machines – in ‘Client Only’ Mode (you will be prompted during installation) • Step 3: Apply License Key to Server and to each client Important Note: There are 4 kinds of keys: • Desktop OS (Win 2000, ME, XP, Vista, Mac OS X) • Server OS (Win 2000/2003/2008 Server, Linux, FreeBSD) • Server OS with Advanced SQL+Exchange plugin • Replication Server • Step 4:The backup server needs to be manually added (by the client)

  13. Client Server Mode Client Server Mode Client Server Mode Window Server 2003 running Exchange / SQL Windows Vista Windows XP Typical Deployments c) Peer to Peer : • StoreGrid can help you use the unused disk space in the system to form a 'trusted peer to peer' backup solution for everyone in your small network. • This is not the ideal deployment for a medium sized company as: • Storage is distributed, and will need to be separately managed & monitored • Disk based storage costs are quite low, anyway!

  14. Typical Deployments c) Peer to Peer • Step 1:Install StoreGrid on all machines – in ‘Client + Server’ Mode (you will be prompted during installation) • Step 2:Apply License Key to each installation • Step 3:If the machines are in the same subnet, they will automatically discover each other. Otherwise, the backup server needs to be manually added (by the client)

  15. So I backup & I’m done, right? Not really! What if the Backup Server ‘dies’ ?

  16. Typical Replication Server Deployment Server Only Mode Replicates To… ReplicationServer Mode Client Only Mode Client Only Mode Client Only Mode Client Only Mode • Replication Server can only replicate a StoreGrid Server (or Client Server) • StoreGrid Backup Server can be restored from the replication server • Clients can restore data from the replication server • Clients cannot backup to the replication server • The replication server can be at a separate location from the backup server

  17. Screenshots These screenshots were taken from v2.2.1 We just released v2.3 last week – with even more features and performance enhancements

  18. StoreGrid User Interface Intuitive browser based User Interface remains the same in Windows, Linux, Mac & FreeBSD. Also remains the same across IE, Firefox, Safari, Netscape & Opera browsers

  19. StoreGrid User Interface Option to create unlimited number of backup schedules (sets) – each with its rules.

  20. StoreGrid User Interface 1-Click preset selections – easily backup commonly used files and folders like Outlook, IE favourites, Firefox favourites, etc. Easy selection options for common server backups like SQL Server Backups, System state /Active Directory Backups, Exchange Server Backups

  21. StoreGrid User Interface Backup server(s) easily selectable.

  22. StoreGrid User Interface Backed up data can be compressed as desired; CPU utilization can also be configured to use system bandwidth as required

  23. StoreGrid User Interface StoreGrid's Intelli-Delta Technology ensures only changes in files & folders are backed up - saves bandwidth, and space

  24. StoreGrid User Interface Up to 448 bit data encryption using the robust Blowfish algorithm; encryption keys are not escrowed on backup server

  25. StoreGrid User Interface Every conceivable scheduling option is available – including multiple full backups with incrementals in between, if so required

  26. StoreGrid User Interface Easy restore capabilities. Restore a single file, an earlier version of a file, and even deleted files.

  27. StoreGrid User Interface User friendly backup status reporting from a powerful database – in addition to StoreGrid alerts that let you know what’s happening

  28. StoreGrid User Interface Powerful ‘Group’ management Features help IT Admin manage distributed installations with ease

  29. In Summary • Data Backups represent an untapped opportunity in the Indian SMB segment • Some concept selling may be needed in the early phase, especially to drive home the possibilities of data loss, the risks thereof, and the benefits of data protection • 40-80% of all data is held on PCs (Source, IDC) • 70% of companies go out of business after a major data loss (Source, DTI) • 32% of data loss is due to user error (Source, Gartner Group) • 10% of laptops are stolen annually (Source, Gartner Group) • 15% of laptops suffer hardware failure annually (Source, Gartner Group) • In most cases, it will be a ‘semi consultative’ process rather than a ‘plug & play’ deployment • The StoreGrid advantage…

  30. The Vembu StoreGrid Advantage • Works with your existing / off the shelf hardware • Designed for SMBs • Enterprise feature set at SMB prices • special India Pricing; scaleable deployment model • Powerful & intuitive web based user interface • Easy for end users • Manageable for sys admins and service providers • Protecting data across the world • Facilitating HIPAA/SOX compliance for US SMBs

  31. Thanks
