  2. How to Recertify • Recertification Journal: Obtain a minimum of 18 recertification units during your three-year certification period. Document them in your recertification journal. • Examination: Sit for the exam. (Required if your certification expired and is past the six- month grace period.)

  3. Recertification Journal • Contains criteria for claiming RU Credits • Maximum #RUs each category • Review journal to properly categorize RUs • Journal provides information on type of documentation required for recertification

  4. Categories • Professional Development • Employment • Full-time 3.6 RUs/yr – 3yr max 10.8 RUs • Courses – Instructor Credit • Courses – Student Credit • Meetings • ASQ Member Meeting – 0.3 RUs

  5. Categories • Committees – ASQ • Elected Officer: Chair, Chair-Elect, Secretary, Treasurer – 2.0 RUs/yr • Member Leader in appointed position: Example – Membership Chair, Recertification Chair – 1.5 RUs/yr • Certification • Exam Proctoring • Electronic Media • Publishing

  6. Prepare Journal for Review • READ ALL the information under each section in the journal prior to categorizing claimed RUs!!!!!! • Use the journal or create an outline/spreadsheet to record your activity under each category • Include EVIDENCE of claimed RU activity – REQUIRED! • Records of continuing education/content description/credits received/employment/etc. • Verify most recent revision date of journal for current cost of recertification

  7. Journal Review • Submit to Recertification Chair 1 month prior to due date for review • Recertification chair reviews documentation, supporting evidence of RUs claimed, proper categories of RUs • Asks for clarification if indicated • Successful application sign off - Returns application, journal packet to individual • Individual is responsible for mailing check and application to ASQ Headquarters

  8. Not Enough RUs to Recertify • Recertify by Exam up to 1yr before/after expiration date • For extenuating circumstances you MUST contact ASQ Headquarters (Recertification Coordinator) directly PRIOR to your expiration date
