The SECC is… • to be part of long term solutions • to enable state employees to support the charitable organizations that are important to them • to feel confident that your money is funding valuable organizations who have undergone a rigorous application process and are benefiting those who are most in need • to designate today and reap the benefits of your donation long into the future • YOUR CAMPAIGN!

  3. Times have changed… the needs in our community and worldwide have not!

  4. Over 150,000 new people were welcomed into our community in 2005 as a result of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. They were given food, shelter, clothing and hope! • Many are still receiving help with basic needs.

  5. Almost 36% of homeless individuals are veterans • 1 million people in our community have no health insurance • 1/3 of adults function at the lowest level of literacy • Only 75% of local students graduate from public high school

  6. Every 11 minutes, a child is reported abused or neglected • 30% of people 65 and older have 3 chronic illnesses

  7. 14 million Americans have critical housing needs • 1.2 billion people worldwide live on less than $1 per day

  8. For pennies as day….The SECC of Houston is workingin the lives of children! • Your contributions improve after school programs. • Yourcontributions enable a disabled child to receive valuable assistive technology. • Your contributions provide safety courses for our area youth.

For pennies a day…The SECC of Houston is working tobuild strong families and safeneighborhoods! • Yourcontributions build strong foundations through counseling and parenting education. • Your contributions grant access to affordable housing for low-income families. • Your contributions assist in neighborhood redevelopment projects to provide safe places for you children to play.

For pennies a day…The SECC of Houston is working towards a healthier community! • Your contributions allow senior citizens to live out their lives with dignity. • Yourcontributions allow for training & exercise equipment for those suffering from arthritis. • Your contributions aid in the fight against Alzheimer's, Cancer and Heart Disease.

What will you give up?Your SECC Dollars At Work! $4 A café mocha each day 24 young people with physical mental disabilities can participate in special needs scouting $5 A fast food value meal 50 school aged youth with twice a week tobacco prevention education services $50 Manicure and pedicure 53 days of comprehensive quality twice a month childcare to low-income families $85 Dinner and a movie for 200 seniors can have a nutritious two each month meal and social interaction at a senior center

What will you give up?Your SECC Dollars At Work! $125 An outing for a family of 207 people can receive cancer four each month screenings, early detection services and education $210 A round of golf for four 48 children can participate in each month after school recreation activities and life skills training for an entire year
