  2. ISOC IN NIGERIA ISOC NIGERIA Chapter (Internet Society) was chartered and registered in Nigeria in June 1998 after it was founded by a group of five friends and today it counts a total of more than 1000 members.

  3. INVOLEMENT ISOC NIGERIA Chapter, since its inception has promoted and diffused the Internet in Nigeria through seminars, courses and conferences. At the same time we have sensitized Corporate Bodies and Government of the need to assist and Sponsor IT projects in recent times. Free courses and internet awareness have been given to lecturers of different levels and students in various higher institutions of learning in Nigeria.

  4. DONATIONS ISOC NIGERIA Chapter has donated Information & Communication Technology (ICT) centers to organizations and institutions in Nigeria (more than 15 schools and professional bodies all over the country).

  5. BENEFICIARIES OF ISOC NIGERIA CHAPTER RIVERS STATE UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOOGY(23rd of October 2002) An IT center (with a value of US$ 50,000) dedicated to the Memory of Jon Postel was donated to the Rivers State University of Science and Technology, Faculty of Engineering, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria.   6. BENEFICIARIES cont. NIGERIAN SOCIETY OF ENGINEERS (NSE), Port Harcourt Branch.(17Th May,2003). A donation of IT center was made to the Port Harcourt Branch of Nigerian Society of Engineers. The center is a 40 feet airconditioned portakabin equipped with Computers, printers, accessories, and a satellite Internet connection with a speed of 200Kbps-600Kbps.   8. CONCLUSION ISOC NIGERIA Chapter is has been on the move to make Information Technology (IT) and Internet a common place in Nigeria. Hence it has donated IT centers and has trained bodies and individuals on how to be IT and Internet compliant.
