  1. Christchurch, Dunedin, Wellington, Auckland, Rotorua Regional Meetings 2013 Creating A Better World For Our Customers

  2. Building Products Systems • WDD development • Christchurch Weathertight ESR stock • Future development

  3. Software Development Team (aka V6 Team) Upgrade to V6 V6 User Groups Crusade Tablet Applications Thermal Break/Non-Thermal Break Ordering

  4. V6 Upgrade to 3.6 Currently on version 3.4 Upgrading to version 3.6 Aim is to rollout between July and Sept 2013 Reason for change Keep pace with V6 releases (makes applying SoftTech fixes easier and quicker) New and dramatically improved report Builder Windows 7 look and feel Ease of customisation of user interface (ribbon bar) Improved printer compatibility

  5. Excel Ribbon Bar : V6 3.6 - main Ribbon Bar

  6. Current V6 Add Frame dialogue

  7. V6 3.6 Add Frame dialogue

  8. V6 User Groups Sept/Oct 2013 Assist with version 3.6 training Discuss V6 requirements/needs Bring V6 community together to share thoughts/practices/ideas

  9. Labour Management Crusade in-house software application Trialling in several Bradnams sites, and have identified some “earlier adopter” sites in Nulook Will allow benchmarking between factories Assists with : Back costing Job progress Visibility

  10. Benchmarking Reporting Users of Crusade will be required to participate in benchmarking which will look to compare factories against V6 labour times (will require correction for different labour grids) and Overall factory efficiency.

  11. Tablet Applications Also known as ‘apps’ (short for Applications) SoftTech are working on site measure and quoting apps for android-based tablets Plan is to partner SoftTech with the site measure app(FeneMeasure) to help SoftTech understand requirements

  12. Non-Thermal Break Ordering We have had a number of requests since releasing AllSeasons™ to order the extrusion in a non-thermally broken form (something which is possible with the pour & debridge process we use). Reasons have been: • Need a cheaper “40mm” frame, often in commercial or school use • Need a frame to glaze greater than 24mm IGU • Require 50mm Bifold • Client want the visual appearance but doesn’t “require” the thermal break

  13. Non-Thermal Break Ordering Currently only way to make this order request is to contact Customer Service at order placement so they can re-route the order. Also pricing has to be done manually. So kept low key Currently embarking on a project to allow this to be done at V6 level and ordering, however this requires changes to: • V6 • Saturn – needs to be upgraded to new version which is web based • SAP

  14. Christchurch Stock Have added 25 sku’s to the Christchurch store to assist with reducing leadtimes for replacements. The decision of which items was based on historical analysis where for the South Island: • Top 10 ESR’s account for 46% • Top 20 ESR’s accounted for 62% • Top 25 ESR’s accounted for 68% Note these are additional to the head flashings & support bars currently stocked in the Christchurch Store

  15. Future Developments • Hardware • Unitised Systems • Architectural/SovereignSeries™

  16. Hardware • Development has been slow to progress • Currently have contracted an industrial designer to develop design style, he will be consulting with architects & interior designers as part of the brief. From this point he will present & refine the aesthetic design concepts. • Have interest from Bradnams Australia who are also wanting to have a more Architectural offer than current. This will help volume with core product lines (lever, sliding door, twin bolt etc) to share costs as well as drive volumes • Have a number of interested suppliers and will vet during development phase • Will update progress at conference, but aim to have made significant progress by year end

  17. Unitised Curtain Wall Unitised curtain wall is a curtain wall systems that is essentially fully manufactured modular system that that is assembled on site. This is unlike Frontline where only the framing is manufactured in the factory, with the glazing occurring on site. Post the Christchurch earthquake we believe we will see increasing demand for this type of system as it would appear that this type of system is the most resilient to earthquakes: • Modular approach gives more flexibility in the curtain wall • Glass structurally glazed to framing so don’t get the glass movement that is possible in dry glazed systems (& hence possible edge damage) • Easier to inspect post seismic event • Less likely damage – which is a key topic for future buildings

  18. Unitised Curtain Wall Unlike Frontline (or generally any dry glazed system), a significant difference is in the building process where involvement starts at the building design stage due to considerations for anchor points etc are required as they as cast in to the spandrel. Manufacturing space, quality control, & material handling logistics (factory, transport, site) are all significantly different than Frontline. This can mean you would be involved in a project 18 months before the first panels arrive on site

  19. Unitised Curtain Wall Preliminary design review would see the requirement for: • 150mm system – a 100mm system is too weak • Double Glazed, adpated for Single Glazed • Bracket system

  20. Unitised Curtain Wall While a Unitised curtain wall system which will allow for 4 sided structural glazing, the heart of the system is the bracketing, which will allow for adjustments after the glazed panels are installed. We have chosen to adopt a international design.

  21. Unitised Curtain Wall We are in the process of checking the bracket to mullion bolt fixing v/s mullion stiffener lug details to ensure that there is no interference and are awaiting a full engineers report. If it covers a large portion of the range we work in, we will send it away for cutting/machining else we may need some tweaks. • Estimated costs are around the $60 each mark – held in Mill finish. Will definitely save on on-site labour time and once we have a PS1 for the bracket, it can be used more generically saving on some costs there too. • Although designed with a Unitised Curtain wall in mind , it can be used with the existing Frontline suites.

  23. Architectural/SovereignSeries™ While we have been very encouraged by the growth of AllSeasons™, the same cannot be said for SovereignSeries™ which is essentially our Architectural offer. SovereignSeries™ is now several years old but only reaching 3%-5% of volume (AllSeasons™ currently 11%). So the questions are: • Is it not targeting the market correctly • Is it too complicated for most licensees (due to low general take up) • Is specification & education holding it back • Has the market moved on to different requirements
