  8. Final Exam • The FIN 3010 Final Exam is departmental and comprehensive and will be administered on Friday, December 7, 2012, from 6:00 – 8:00pm CST.  If you have a religious observance issue, a DSS accommodation issue, a university-sponsored activity, or a military service issue that may cause a conflict with the scheduled exam administration, you must notify the instructor immediately.  Any other issues – including work or vacation conflicts – are not acceptable excuses, and students should make plans accordingly.  Details pertaining to the Final Exam will be circulated at a later date.  Formula sheets and crib sheets are prohibited on the Final Exam, as are devices that are capable of communication, storing text or formulas, and/or taking photographs (this includes – but is not limited to – smart phones, graphing calculators, and iPods).

Final Exam, continued • Exam is still departmental and comprehensive, however, • Note these changes: • No minimum score required to pass the course • Previously a 45% was required • Exam will cover only the core concepts relevant to all business majors • Guidelines will be distributed later in the semester

  10. Student Responsibilities • Attend class meetings • Read all assigned chapters prior to class • Take the quizzes • Complete all homework assignments • Take all examinations

Some Advice for Success • Don’t worry about your final grade in this class. • Focus on doing your best every day and on every assignment. • Spend time on this class outside of class. • We’re in class 3 hours/week, and you should spend another 3 hours/week (at least) if you want to succeed. • That doesn’t mean that you can wait and study 12 hours for the test and be OK.

Some Advice for Success, continued • Read the assigned chapters in the textbook. • I don’t have time to cover every informational item during lecture. • Do the homework. • I’ll work as many examples as I can, but you need to practice and prove to yourself that you can do the problems (CONFIDENCE). • If I spend time on it, then it’s important. • If I’m writing, you should be writing; if I’m talking, you should be writing faster.
