  5. The challenge • To support a variety of devices • On and offline access • Single point of access to all learning activities • Support learners in none to many institutions • Keep it personal • Support PDP and portfolio activities

  6. The challenge • Make it as simple as a logbook • But as functional as: • Word processor • VLE • Email & Internet Messenger • Calendar / timetable • Google search • … • With the lowest possible barrier to recording

  7. Interactive Logbook • PC and mobile phone based • Integrated productivity/learning environment • Uses best-of-breed tools • Connects to any networked or local resource for live or offline use • Keeps record of all activities and resources

  8. Interactive Logbook • Principally, a shell and an architecture • Core suite of plug-ins • ‘Plug-ins’ can be developed by anybody • Functionality and design is appropriate to device • Cheap / free for institution and learner with scalable implementations
