  1. Group 3 Plane Design:Names: Noble Wu, Bobby Walsh, ArdaSelekler, Khanh Nguyen, Mulu, Weird Dave.

  2. Restrictions/Rules • The overall cost of the flying aircraft has to be under $250. • The weight of the aircraft has to be less than or equal to 450 grams. • The completed aircraft has to be able to fly for a sustained five minutes. • Cannot use combustion engines.

  3. Planning At first we wanted to build a helicopter but we weren’t able to find the parts needed to build one ourselves that meets the requirements, so we switched to a plane design.

  4. Design Our plane is going to be a re-skinned GWS Slow stick model to look like a bird(Dave’s idea) along with some slight technical changes to the model’s body in terms of functionality.

  5. Plane Sketch

  6. Part cost/list • SymaRC Helicopter – Yellow - 20.25 • 2.4G Fly-Sky 6 Channel - 32.70 usd • DynamBrushless - 24.66 usd • Sky Lipo 1300mAh(battery) - 13.20 usd • Slow Stick Airplane - 30.56 usd • Total – 121.37 usd

  7. Gantt

  8. Changed Technical Specifications • Removed small matter from certain parts from the plane to adjust the plane’s weight. • We have a larger battery allowing for a longer flight time. • Our camera mount features a large opening ended with a small exit to allow increased pressure for whatever is inside(the camera).

  9. Video of Plane • Coming soon!

  10. Conclusion Going from the Helicopter to a Plane insured a lesser difficulty due to the ease at finding parts, the design, the flight, and cost of parts. Building a plane and designing it as well as allowing it to fly is the real task of this project. Thank you for your time.
