  5. Bass Drum • Wooden body • Non- pitched

  6. Cymbals • Metal • Non- pitched • Can be hit together, hit with a mallet or brushes

  7. Tambourine • Wooden frame

  8. Triangle • Metal

  9. Snare drum • Wired stretched across bottom head that vibrate when the top head is hit

  10. Wood block • Sounds like galloping horses • hollow

  11. Castanets • Wooden “shells” that are clapped together

  12. Gong • Large metal disk suspended from a frame • Hit with large felt mallet • Also called tamtam • Used in China

  13. Whip • Actually two pieces of wood hinged together that slap together to make a whipping sound
