  1. Word Snapshots Vocabulary IS art!!

A Snapshot is a moment “frozen” in time. • You will represent Life as You See It at this moment in time. • You will incorporate S.A.T. vocabulary into your Word Snapshot. • Brainstorm other categories that you can represent in Word Art for Life as You See It. • Do the Word Snapshot on a piece of presentation grade paper no bigger than an half sheet of poster board. • Write an explanation and attach it to the back of your word snapshots explaining your categories, Main Ideas, and vocabulary. Task:

Use words, quotes, phrases from books and texts you are reading • Use words, images, or sketches to represent World Events, teen issues, incidents to remember, and popular culture (fashion, movies, music, TV shows, slang expressions) • Include words and phrases to define your place in the World: likes, fears, hopes, dreams • Include your vocabulary words with synonyms and phrases that show the word in context inside your Word Snapshot. Consider all of your “roles” in life and the voice (language) you use or hear in these roles. • Consider the roles of others in your life; what language, advice or directives do you hear from these voices. • Incorporate the 5 words given for this week’s theme; find 5 more words in texts you are reading and incorporate them IN the snapshot AND IN the Explanation as well. Use the words correctly in context. Include citations for your 5 “found” words. • The Snapshot should fill the whole page that you have chosen; the explanation should be created at the same time and attached to the back.
