Part of this shock is learning that around a third of any population of adults over age 30 can be suffering some form of periodontal disease. It can even be more shocking that now doctors and dentists know the correlation between chronic gum infections and threatening diseases like heart diseases, diabetes, stroke, and even some types of cancer. Of course we all know that mouth infections and bacteria will basically cause bad breath and loss of teeth. But they can also contribute to any ongoing chronic health issues. How it works While there can be around a dozen types of bacteria in the human mouth at any given time, around 13 strains are actually targeted as being the most common pathogenic bacteria that can cause gum disease.
