  2. IMT AHC Objectives: • Provide status information regarding ITU plans to 802.11 • In cooperation with other 802 WGs, encourage participation in the creation of output documents to ITU • For more details see IMT Advanced Status Rpt 11-07-2500r0 Darwin Engwer, Nortel Networks

Short History • ITU-R WP8F has an initiative underway to identify air interfaces for inclusion in IMT-Advanced • Question ITU-R 229/8 then M.1645 “Framework and overall objectivesof the future development of IMT‑2000 and systems beyond IMT‑2000” • Nomadic/ local area class targets 1 Gbps with low mobility! • IMT-Advanced Technical Requirements are nearly complete • Spectrum –requested in WRC07 Agenda Item 1.4 (22 Oct – 16 Nov) • Technical (radio) requirements only other unfinished work item • ITU-R Circular letter soliciting solutions due out March 2008 • Commercial deployment of IMT-Advanced expected around 2012 • IEEE 802 submitted suggestions on IMT Tech to WP8F (mid May) • Contributions included from .11, .16, .18, .19, .20, .21 • WP8F review in Kyoto (end of May) Darwin Engwer, Nortel Networks

Report Overview • What did we do this week? • Met in session 16:00-18:00 on Tue 2007-08-18 • Met with 802.18 on Tue evening 2007-08-18 • What happens next? • .11 conf calls to construct .eval inputs and further .tech inputs • .18 conf calls (802 consensus on .tech & .eval inputs) • What happens after that? • Joint technology submission work plan (process) establishment • Joint technology submission work (in 2008) Darwin Engwer, Nortel Networks

  5. 802.11 Tue IMT-Advanced Meeting • Bruce and Darwin presented updated status of IMT-Advanced, see doc 11-07-2500-00 • Confirmed the need for weekly conference calls to craft inputs to IMT.EVAL and additional inputs to IMT.TECH Darwin Engwer, Nortel Networks

  6. 802.18 Tue eve IMT-Advanced Mtg • 802.18 confirmed the need to complete the following accomplishments by the end of the November meeting: • 1. IMT.TECH requirements inputs • Via 3 conference calls between Sept and Nov meetings • 2. IMT.EVAL requirements inputs • Via 2 conference calls between Sept and Nov meetings • 3. IMT-Advanced technology response process planning • 802.18 chair will circulate a proposed work plan to the WG chairs prior to the Nov plenary session • 802.18 chair will request EC approval of the work plan at the Nov plenary • Hence 802 will exit the Nov plenary with an agreed upon work plan • Using the work plan, actual construction work on the joint proposal will occur throughout 2008 Darwin Engwer, Nortel Networks

  8. 802.18 Conference Call Plan • Participation from 802.11 members will be needed for 5 calls between 2007-09-24 through 2007-11-09 • 3 on IMT.TECH • 2 on IMT.EVAL • Call details are currently unknown Darwin Engwer, Nortel Networks
